Cookie Policy

1.What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.

Exaim uses strictly necessary cookies — those that are essential for you to use the platform, such as signing in and maintaining your session — and, only if you agree, analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is used. We ask for your choice on your first visit, and analytics cookies are never set unless you accept them. We do not use cookies for advertising or for any form of behavioural tracking or profiling.

2.Cookies We Use

Our essential cookies are set by Supabase, our authentication and database provider. They exist solely to manage your login session and keep you securely signed in, and are set on every visit because the platform cannot function without them.

CookiePurposeDuration
sb-[ref]-auth-tokenStores your encrypted authentication session so you remain signed in between page loads.Session / up to 1 hour
sb-[ref]-auth-token-code-verifierTemporary PKCE code verifier used during the OAuth sign-in flow. Deleted once sign-in completes.Session (minutes)

Where is data stored?

These cookies reference a session token whose underlying data is stored in Supabase's EU data centre (Frankfurt, Germany). The cookie itself contains only an encrypted reference — no personally identifiable information is stored inside the cookie value.

Analytics cookies — only with your consent. If you accept analytics on the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which pages they read and how they arrived — so we can improve it. These cookies are not set unless you accept them, and you can decline with no loss of functionality.

CookiePurposeDuration
_gaSet by Google Analytics to distinguish one visitor from another. Set only after you accept analytics cookies.Up to 2 years
_ga_[id]Set by Google Analytics to keep track of your session. Set only after you accept analytics cookies.Up to 2 years

3.Cookies We Do Not Use

Exaim does not use any of the following:

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies
  • Third-party social media cookies
  • Session-replay or behavioural-profiling cookies (e.g. Hotjar)
  • Any analytics cookies before you have given consent
  • Persistent preference cookies beyond authentication and your cookie choice

Our strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and we display a notice on your first visit so you are aware of them. Our analytics cookies are notexempt, so we never set them unless you choose "Accept all". Choosing "Essential only" keeps analytics off, and the platform works in exactly the same way.

4.Managing Your Cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to refuse new cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when a cookie is set.

Important

Blocking or deleting the session cookies listed above will prevent you from remaining signed in to Exaim. You will need to sign in again each time you visit.

5.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will seek your consent before setting them.
