What is the probability scale range?
From 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).
What do the probabilities of an exhaustive set of outcomes sum to?
1
How do you calculate relative frequency?
Number of successful trials ÷ total number of trials.
How does relative frequency relate to theoretical probability as trials increase?
It tends to get closer to the theoretical probability.
What are mutually exclusive events?
Events that cannot both happen at the same time.
How do you calculate an expected outcome?
Probability of the event × number of trials.
What is a possibility space?
A diagram or table listing every equally likely outcome of an experiment.
How many outcomes are in the possibility space for rolling two fair six-sided dice?
36 (6 × 6).
If P(win)=0.2P(\text{win}) = 0.2, what is P(not win)P(\text{not win})?
1−0.2=0.81 - 0.2 = 0.8
Name three ways of expressing a probability.
As a fraction, a decimal, or a percentage.
